Ever wondered how to compost in the mountains? EAS+Y wants to make it easy!

In collaboration with EDS Waste Solutions, Inc. and King Soopers in Evergreen, EAS+Y’s Community-Wide Residential Composting Program is officially scheduled to start November 1, 2018 and run until February 1, 2018. Community members who pay a fee of $19/month will be able to drop their compostable kitchen scraps (including meat) off during designated hours behind King Soopers in Evergreen. This is a pilot program, during which time EAS+Y and its partners hope to work out any issues. We will be asking for feedback at the end of the pilot.

Interested? Click here to learn the details and access the registration form. Our registration deadline is October 17th. Please email us with any other questions or concerns.

A special thanks goes out to Chris Pfaff, Zero Waste Committee Member and EAS+Y Volunteer who has worked tirelessly to make this idea into a reality! Thanks Chris!

I live in Lookout Mountain and I’m interested in participating in a compost program. I shop at King Sooper in Golden. Any chance they may participate in the Evergreen composting?

Hi Cinthia – At this point, we are restricted to piloting the program on a very small scale, which means through EDS Waste Solutions’ waste station in Evergreen, since they are our partners and King Soopers in Evergreen is where they are located.

If you are interested in composting in Golden, I would advise reaching out to the City of Golden and asking what they are doing to bring composting to the community, and encourage your friends to do the same. If there is pressure/interest from the community, you might be able to plant a seed of an idea.

      I hope this helps!
